Reef Education Experience

Reef BiosearchMaster Reef Guides

Turning the ocean into a fun and engaging classroom!

School has never been so much fun, and why wouldn’t it be when your classroom is on the beautiful Low Isles! With our Reef Education Program, students will be guided by our Reef Biosearch Marine Biologists and Master Reef Guides on projects aligning to the Australian Curriculum.

Specialist programs can also focus on the senior syllabuses for Biology and Marine Science, which provide essential skill sets to prepare students for higher education, work and engagement in a complex and rapidly changing world.

Our Reef Education Program allows teachers to choose from Low Isles or the Outer Reef for the best experience.

Low Isles Living Classroom

A one hour sail to Low Isles from Port Douglas aboard Quicksilver’s 30 metre sailing cat Wavedancer is all part of the adventure for a day out of the traditional classroom. Putting the fun into curriculum based environmental education, students can participate in activities like snorkelling, glass bottom boat tours, and an island and heritage trail walk to showcase the natural ecosystems above and below the water.

Outer Reef Platform Experiences

Our Outer Reef Experience takes students to Quicksilver’s reef activity platform permanently moored at the stunning Agincourt Reef, providing the perfect opportunity to investigate and study reef ecosystems and processes in an interactive and stimulating experience. Students can participate in activities such as semi-submarine tours, underwater observatory viewing, snorkel tours and citizen science surveys.
